The alkaloid of Physostigma venenosum

Common Name: Eserine.

Causes & Symptoms for Eserinums

• Complaints that occur after excess reading and usage of eyes.
• Repeated vomiting, accompanied with headache, cardiac weakness indicates Eserinum
• Face and upper part of the body covered with profuse perspiration.
• Spasmodic feeling in lips, jaw of left side.
• Used locally to contract the pupil.
• Astigmatism due to irregular action of the ciliary muscles indicates Eserinum.

Eyes

Twitching of lids, soreness of eyeballs, blurring of vision is relieved with Eserinum.

Pains around eyes and head, pain and irritation of eyes on continued reading.

Pupils contracted to small point.

Side effects of Eserinum

There are no such side effects. But every medicine should be taken following the rules as given.

Dosage and rules while taking Eserinum

Take 5 drops in half cup of water three times a day.
